Her er en liten smakebit fra min tur til Boston i helga.
Boston is the home of the American Revolution. It’s the magnificent story on how a country was founded because of a couple of crates with overtaxed tea got thrown off a British ship. It is the story about how great a beer Samuel Adams is. Last, but not the least, Boston is where Harvard is located and everybody knows that cool kids don’t go to Harvard. They go to the Community College in Charlestown.
What do I remember the most about Boston, Massachusetts? The five miles line to get a cake in “Mike’s Pastries” was somewhat special. The tremendous amount of Irish Pubs on every block was definitely remarkable. None of these statements can beat the fact that there is a steak house in the old City Hall. I wonder if Sam Adams himself would turn in his grave or maybe even order a medium cooked sirloin with tons of cheddar and French fries.
I’d never been to Boston before, except for Logan International Airport. The freedom trail was a natural route to follow in order to learn something about the city with its own vodka flavor. I learned that Ho Chi Min was a door opener at some hotel in Boston before he got all evil. I learned that there is a Starbucks on every street corner and you can count your walking distance 90% accurately by taking your steps from one Starbucks to another and multiply them with the number of Starbucks you’ll pass. Finally I learned that to be a true patriot you’d have to drink Samuel Adams blood in form of the draft beer with the same name.
I love Boston. It’s the only big city I actually can picture myself living in. Boston in the wintertime is beautifully windy. Walking in the streets is like walking in enormous wind tunnels. The best thing, however, is that Boston has a lot of Jersey Shore Parties at the clubs, so there is always a place to heat up.
Boston is revolutionary. Boston is fun. Boston is pain in feet and back after following French students. Boston has it all. If you’re one of those that never leave the safe haven of Rhode Island, I’d recommend you go to Boston as soon as you have the opportunity.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to find that Tea Party with Hitler-Obama.
